26 March 20258th Nommo Awards 2025 - Nominatons Now Open
We are delighted to announce that nominations for our 8th Nommo Awards 2025 are now open. Only members of the ASFS can nominate. Members can nominate any published work in speculative fiction (novel, novella, short story, graphic fiction) by an African during 2024. Nominated authors do not have to be members of the ASFS.  [Nomination Form]

10 December 2024: ASFS Statement and Code of Conduct
We have now published a new Code of Conduct with information on how to report and follow up on unethical behaviour. [Read statement in full here....]

14 October 2024: New Partnership with Imperial College London -  Applied African SF

The ASFS has partnered with Imperial College London and in association with University of Nairobi and the International Black Speculative Fiction Writing Festival for a year-long education program including a series of seminars and workshops that will explore futures shaped by AI, automation, synthetic biology, surveillance capitalism, space exploration, nanotechnology and integration into the global industrial economy....
