ASFS Statement and Code of Conduct
In light of further revelations in the case of the allegations made by Erin Cairns’ against ASFS member Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki, the specific allegations of appropriation and non-disclosure have been investigated by a third party and no longer stand, and a public retraction has been made for one of the claims.* As an urgent response, we have now published a new Code of Conduct with information on how to report and follow up on unethical behaviour. New Partnership with Imperial College London - Applied African SF
The ASFS has partnered with Imperial College London and in association with University of Nairobi and the International Black Speculative Fiction Writing Festival for a year-long education program including a series of seminars and workshops that will explore futures shaped by AI, automation, synthetic biology, surveillance capitalism, space exploration, nanotechnology and integration into the global industrial economy.This program is funded by Imperial College London and hosted by its Centre for Environmental Policy alongside the Department of Agriculture at the University of Nairobi.
